Kilimanjaro National Park, spanning approximately 75,575 hectares, safeguards the largest free-standing volcanic mass globally and Africa’s tallest mountain. Kilimanjaro National Park is blessed with permanent glaciers gracing its mountain peaks. The park is also home to a diverse array of animals, such as the grey duiker, bushbuck, tree hyrax, Cape buffalo, forest elephants, blue monkeys, bush-babies, and many more fascinating wildlife species. These animals contribute to the park’s rich biodiversity and enhance the overall experience for visitors.

WHEN TO VISIT?

During the dry season, spanning from June to October. However, visiting in January is also feasible, particularly for ascending Mount Kilimanjaro and enjoying the breathtaking scenery. The clear weather during this period provides an excellent opportunity to appreciate the stunning landscapes and embark on the adventure of climbing the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro.

GETTING THERE:

Accessible both by road and air, with Kilimanjaro International Airport situated approximately 45 kilometers to the west. The Park Headquarters and one of the gates for ascending, Marangu, can be found about 41 kilometers from Moshi town and 86 kilometers from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Additionally, there are seven other gates – Rongai, Machame, Londorosi, Lemosho, Kilema, Mweka, and Umbwe – located around the base of the mountain, all reachable by road. These access points offer different starting points for climbers and visitors to begin their Kilimanjaro adventure.

    Mountain Cycling (MB): Cycling through the designated areas around the mountain, providing a different perspective and adventure in the park.
