Serengeti National Park, designated as a World Heritage Site, is abundant with wildlife. The park is home to an impressive population of wildlife, including over 2 million ungulates, 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 550 cheetahs, and approximately 500 bird species. Encompassing an expansive area of nearly 15,000 square kilometers, it stands as the largest national park in northern Tanzania, showcasing the incredible biodiversity and natural beauty of the region.

A World Heritage Site, it boasts a multitude of attractions, surpassing many other national parks in Africa. Among these attractions are the Great Migration, the renowned Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros), unique bird collections, endangered species, the highest concentration of carnivores and herbivores, and breathtakingly scenic landscapes.

WHEN TO VISIT?

The optimal time to visit Serengeti National Park is during the Dry season, which spans from late June to October. This period is prime for wildlife viewing, with the incredible wildebeest migration being the absolute highlight. The timing of the migration can vary annually, but your best chance to witness it is during June and July. Additionally, the wildebeest calving occurs from late January to February, presenting another exciting spectacle for visitors.

GETTING THERE:

To reach Serengeti National Park, there are two main options. The first is a road trip from Arusha city, providing a land route to the park. The second option is by air or flight, which can take you directly to various parts of the park, including the center (Seronera), south (Kusini), east (Lobo), west (Kirawira), and north (Kogatende & Lamai).
